Building on the successes of the Danube Hazard m3c project, the Tethys project was launched in January 2024. A receiving sea refers to the body of water into which a river or other watercourse empties its flow. In this context, the Black Sea serves as the final destination for the waters of the Danube River.

The Flood Protection Expert Group (FP EG) deals with ICPDR activities concerning sustainable flood risk management and the development and implementation of the Danube River Basin Flood Risk Management Plan.
