Presenting the latest in hazard and risk assessments, the ICPDR Technical Report on Accidental Pollution Hazards provides an in-depth analysis of accidental pollution. It highlights updated inventories for Accident Hazard Sites (AHS) and Tailings Management Facilities (TMF), employing advanced methodologies like the Water Hazard Index and Tailings Risk Index. The ICPDR has published an informative summary report on accident prevention and control for dissemination to the interested public. It highlights the ICPDR activities on basin-wide level for accident prevention and emergency management, focusing on the tools, pragmatic procedures and mechanisms that are available for the ICPDR member countries.

Improving the safety of Tailings Management Facilities (TMFs) throughout the Danube River Basin is a key issue for the ICPDR, and we've now published a paper of policy recommendations.

Since March 2019, the ICPDR, in cooperation with the Babes-Bolyai University and the non-governmental organisation, “Sustainable Development Platform”, has been implementing a new project: “Capacity development to improve safety conditions of tailings management facilities in the Danube River Basin – Phase I: North-Eastern Danube countries”.

Ulm, 2 November 2015. More than 1200 participants representing civil society, international institutions, corporate actors, national and local administrations made the 4th Annual Forum of the EUSDR a success. Here, we give a short review of the ICPDR contributions to the forum and show some pictures.

Ulm, 29/30 October 2015. The ICPDR will contribute to the 4th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region through a number of activities. These include a workshop on the River Basin Management Plan, an exhibition stand and contributions to different workshops hosted by other organisations.

Vienna, 26/27 June 2014. The 3rd EUSDR Annual Conference put the spotlight on the ICPDR at several occasions: the commission’s 20th anniversary was celebrated through a special session; and exhibitions, plenary and working group sessions dealt with improving the alignment of ICPDR and EUSDR work – reinforced by a ministerial declaration.

The Second Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), jointly organised between the Government of Romania and the European Commission, will take place at the International Conference Centre/Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania, on 28-29 October 2013.

Regensburg, 27/28 November 2012. The first Annual Forum on the EU Strategy for the Danube Region will take place in Regensburg on 27 and 28 November 2012. It will deal with the question of how the Danube Region can help to build a more competitive Europe.
