The We Pass 2 project, an ambitious initiative to restore fish migration routes at the Iron Gate Dams on the Danube River, has reached a successful conclusion. Building on the achievements of the original We Pass project, We Pass 2 focused on creating preliminary designs and cost estimates for solutions to enable fish passage at Iron Gate 1 and 2, which sit on the border between Romania and Serbia.

Accidental pollution events are dangerous form of water contamination by hazardous substances. Industrial facilities, mining areas and contaminated sites that store, process or produce such substances in substantial amounts pose hazard (potential risk) to water. To avoid pollution accidents appropriate prevention measures have to be in place.

With the start of her tenure as our Executive Secretary last summer, Birgit Vogel has set out to prioritize building solid professional relationships with ICPDR stakeholders and members, planning to personally visit as many Danube countries as possible.
