The We Pass 2 project, an ambitious initiative to restore fish migration routes at the Iron Gate Dams on the Danube River, has reached a successful conclusion. Building on the achievements of the original We Pass project, We Pass 2 focused on creating preliminary designs and cost estimates for solutions to enable fish passage at Iron Gate 1 and 2, which sit on the border between Romania and Serbia.

The ICPDR is proud to announce its appointment as the formal host and Non-Country Member of the newly established Danube WILDisland Ramsar Regional Initiative (RRI). Approved by the 63rd meeting of the Standing Committee of the Convention on Wetlands, this initiative becomes the 22nd Ramsar Regional Initiative globally and the first river-based RRI in Europe.

On March 15, 2023, the Neptune Water Prize winners, including the Neptune State Prize, were announced by Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig, along with the partners of the Neptune State Prize for Water and other Austrian water representatives. Participants competed in five categories: WasserGEMEINDE, WasserWIEN, WasserFORSCHT, WasserBILDUNG, and WasserKREATIV, with prizes awarded every two years to outstanding water-related projects.
