Istanbul, 21 April 2012. The Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution (Bucharest Convention) celebrated its 20th Anniversary. Since the signing in Bucharest, the Convention has become a powerful instrument of International Environmental Law in the Black Sea Basin.

At a meeting on 12 April 2012, representatives of the ICPDR and the International Black Sea Protection Commission expressed their understanding of joint responsibility for the management of water. Zagreb, 9 January 2012. The draft Sava River Basin Management Plan (Sava RBMP) is available for public consultation until 21 April 2012. The Sava Commission has set up a website that offers a possibility to the public to respond to the consultation online, by submitting comments or suggestions in a form provided online.

Belgrade, 29 June 2012. This year's Danube Day, the ICPDR gathered some 25 representatives from ministries, NGOs, schools and other educational institutions on a ship travelling from Belgrade to Vienna. Dubrovnik, 17 October 2012. The Sixth GEF Biennial International Waters Conference, as with prior IW Conferences, was a learning event for the GEF IW focal area held in the Croatian town of Dubrovnik from the 17th to the 21st of October. The general objective of the conference is to facilitate cross-sectoral and portfolio-wide learning and experience sharing.

Brisbane, 27 September 2010. The US Charles River Watershed Association was awarded the Thiess International Riverprize 2011 for excellence in river management. The award was presented in Brisbane, Australia, on September 27. The $350,000 (approximately 250,000 EUR) award is divided between the winner and finalists, and is the most prestigious river prize in the world.

Astana, 21 September 2011. The Seventh “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference is scheduled to take place in Astana (Kazakhstan) from 21 to 23 September 2011. The Conference is being prepared in accordance with the provisions of Reform Plan of the “Environment for Europe” process.
