Data privacy

The International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal information confidentially and according to legal data protection regulations as well as this data privacy statement.

As a general rule, our website can be used without revealing personal information. To the extent that personal data (e.g. name, address, email address etc.) are requested on our pages, providing such information - insofar as this is possible - is voluntary.  No personal data will be forwarded to any third parties without your express consent.

Please be aware that data transfer via the Internet (e.g. during email communication) is not necessarily coded. In such cases, no seamless protection of data against access by third parties is possible.

Contact forms

If you use a Contact form on our web site to contact ICPDR or an author, your submitted data will be transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored only for the purpose of handling your request by the ICPDR or the respective contact. No personal data will be forwarded to any third parties.

Server-Log-Files

The ICPDR collects and automatically saves information that your browser transmits during your visit to our pages in so-called server log files. The following information is collected:

  • IP address of the computer emitting the request (*)
  • kind of web browser and operating system used by the client
  • information on server services used and protocol version
  • name of the downloaded file or supply page and referrer URL
  • date and time, quantity of data transmitted and status information

(*) The webserver only keeps an anonymized record of the requesting IP client address. This information is used for purposes of statistical analysis of the access to the web service.

This information is exclusively used for statistical purposes and to ensure proper operation of the services; we do not create any user profiles. No information is passed on to third parties. The ICPDR service offer does not use any techniques aimed at reproducing the access habits of individual users.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded onto ‘terminal equipment’ (eg a computer or smartphone) when the user accesses a website. It allows the website to recognise that user’s device and store some information about the user’s preferences or past actions.

No cookies are required for the functioning of this website. The ICPDR does not use any cookies to store any personal data or used for behavioural tracking. The ICPDR also does not use any third-party tracking software.

Third-party content

We embed some videos on our website which are remotely hosted by third-party content providers (YouTube, Vimeo). Before you can view such remote content, you will be asked to accept cookies potentially set by these third-party content providers. Only after your acceptance, the remote content will be loaded. 
We generally embed YouTube videos via the youtube-nocookie.com domain using their Privacy Enhanced Mode.

SSL-encryption

For safety reasons and in order to protect the transfer of confidential information, such as your requests addressed to us as website operators, the ICPDR uses SSL-encryption for online form submissions. You can tell that a transmission of data has been encrypted by the change of the address in your browser from "http://" to "https://" and the padlock icon in your browser.

When SSL-encryption is activated, data you transfer to us cannot be read by third parties.

Right of access, to erasure or blocking

You are at any time entitled to free information about your stored personal data, their origin and the receivers, the purpose of their processing as well as the right to correction, blocking or deletion of your data. In this respect and concerning further questions on the issue of personal data you may at any time contact us at the address indicated on our website.
