With more than 800,000 square kilometres or 10 percent of Continental Europe, the Danube River Basin extends into the territories of 19 countries. It is considered the most international river basin in the World. Those 14 countries that have more than 2000 square kilometres of the basin are, together with the European Union, contracting parties of the ICPDR. Here, you can learn more about the countries of the Danube River Basin, but also about various sub-basins and related regions outside of it.
In 2021 the ICPDR will be seeking your public input on the next update to our management plans (DRBMP & DFRMP. In the meantime, you can re-read the previous updates in place since 2015: the DRBM Plan Update 2015 and the 1st DFRMP.
