    Improving the Safety of Tailings Management Facilities in the Danube River Basin

    Since March 2019, the ICPDR, in cooperation with the Babes-Bolyai University and the non-governmental organisation, “Sustainable Development Platform”, has been implementing a new project: “Capacity development to improve safety conditions of tailings management facilities in the Danube River Basin – Phase I: North-Eastern Danube countries”.

    ICPDR co-organises International Workshop on Water and Agriculture in the Danube River Basin in Budapest

    The first “International Workshop on Water and Agriculture in the Danube River Basin“ will take place on 6-7 November 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. The workshop is co-organised by the ICPDR together with the Hungarian Ministry of Interior, the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and the Danube Strategy Priority Area 4 and hosted by the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture.

    ICPDR publishes Position Paper on the Post-2020 Common Agricultural Policy and Water Management in the Danube River Basin

    Discussions have begun on what the EC’s post-2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will look like, specifically wishing to detail a framework for “future-proof” policy. With that in mind, ambitions regarding environmental and climate protection are due to be heightened responding to international commitments, EU environmental challenges, and above all, changing societal expectations. In response to the post-2020 CAP proposals, the ICPDR has published a Position Paper, outlining our positive response to the proposals, and suggesting a way forward for the Danube River Basin.

    2018 Interim Report on the Implementation of the Joint Programme of Measures in the Danube River Basin

    The ICPDR has released a 23-page Interim Report on the implementation of its ‘Joint Program of Measures in the Danube River Basin’. The brochure is both a snapshot of the progress being made, and a look at the future of the ICPDR’s three main aims: to make Danube waters “cleaner”, “healthier”, and “safer”. It’s also the first such publication by the ICPDR to take on a new design-focused look, deploying more images and a clearer language in a public-friendly format.

    Joint Commitment in Tisza River Basin - Good Water Quality for all Tisza Countries

    Uzhgorod, 11 April 2011. The five Tisza River Basin countries Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine entered a new stage in joint water management to ensure good water quality. In the course of a Ministerial Meeting held in Uzhgorod (Ukraine), a management plan was signed that commits the five countries to further cooperation in their efforts to protect the valuable environment of the basin. What used to be a matter of individual countries is now an international endeavour.
